NAOSHIMA [standard] 2 part II
more naoshima genius...

this was MY RIDE! - we rented cycles for the day to get around... we really didnt think about the fact that this island was going be soo mountainous...

with intial D style corners EVERYWHERE. [TAKUMI!#$%] it even had the initial d style open gutters [but i wasnt skilled or japanese enough to use them to drift. :(

after the scariest downhill ride EVER we literally came out at the beach like this:

we found THESE hanging DUDES on the way .... KOWAII ([scary]prang)

That`s Honda! WHAT!"#% you cant name a car that...

an installation/sculpture by also by SANAA.. [no explantation it was just there]

a classic from Tatsuo Miyajima :sea of time: installation inside an ancient traditional style japanese house. [think samurai [kidori fry]

i found one of the LED hex counters in the :ARCHIVE: マクロ!

shrine by Hiroshi Suigimoto - more famous for his photography but this is an amazing piece. - the stairs descend into a tomb beneath, which can be accessed through a very slim tunnel.

close up detail of the natural glass block stairs. subarashi.

入口/出口 of the tomb 下 the shrine:

NAOSHIMA [standard] 2
too many photos - i:ll try and deal you the best of naoshima.

NOTE+ loads of photos that i:ve been taking aren;t digital so check them later ne.

one misty morning at 5 AM on the local train to Naoshima

but before that the SHINKANSEN:

comme ça

we arrive to this lovely collection - these were used all over the island to identify the art areas.

well, yeah.... Naoshima Marine Station. very nice buidling by SANAA Architects:
Kazuyo Seijima and Ryue Nishizawa

lots of glass held together with neoprene to create vast panaramic views out of the harbour. seemless integration between outside and in by a single concrete floor spanning both areas. all under a white corrugated steel roof held by thin, elegant, white steel columns. lovely. i have loads of detail pics of it too.. for later.

BRIGHT spotted pumkins[?] by Yayoi Kusama who apparently started seing dots everywhere when she was :very tiny:
